“The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.” Hippocrates
Homeopathy is based on the premise that all beings have a natural healing capacity, a life-sustaining energy that keeps things functioning smoothly and in balance. This idea is not unique to homeopathy; other holistic therapies recognize it as well. Homeopathy considers symptoms of disease to be the body's attempt at restoring itself to balance. It uses carefully selected and specially prepared natural substances, called remedies, to stimulate and support this attempt. As balance returns, symptoms are able to disappear, or lessen considerably. In this way, health is restored from the inside out. Homeopathy works by stimulating a self-healing response, not by directly targeting a diagnosis or condition. Because of this holistic approach, most anyone can benefit from homeopathic treatment. At the core of homeopathy is it’s understanding that, although many people may suffer from the same condition or disease, each person experiences it in a different way. And so it is the person with the disease that needs to be treated, not the disease itself. This requires a very individualized treatment approach. |
Founded on principles dating as far back as Hippocrates, homeopathy was developed by the German physician, Samuel Hahnemann in the late eighteenth century. Hahnemann was so disillusioned with the medical methods of his time that he stopped practicing medicine to search for a system of healing that could be both effective and gentle. After years of research and experimenting on himself and other healthy people, he was successful! |
